Here we are then. One more night shift to go! Saying good-bye to people sucks. Don't worry though, as the governator always says, "I’ll be back"!!!!!!!!! Eventually.
Cheers to all who made it to the pirate party! Great fun. What the hell was in that punch!? I put it all in there and I’m not even sure! (One thing that stands out in my mind was a bottle of clear spirit with an unreadable label, bar the word "KORN" in large, green letters. Dangerous stuff)
To all those I didn't see before going... see ya around!
Brief outline of what we'll call for the want of a better word the "plan".
- Find boat. Check. Lista light, check her out at www.listalight.co.uk. (Sailed her down to A Coruna northwest Spain last month. Too amazing for words. A couple of highlights -
The crew. Captain Dave (sir!), Kat his wife and ornithological expert, Clare a right salty old sea dog and Dave's parents (now sadly returned to blighty!) There will be plenty to say about them in the future but for now it may suffice to say they rock. Hard!Recovering from seasickness. 1 hour hoping i didn't die. 6 hours praying i could die so that it would stop. Many hours sleeping and recovering. Then... VICTORY! Fingers crossed...
The Whale. Being woken by screams on deck was a negative experience (many thoughts pass though your head. All bad, potentially deadly). Run up to blearily see a Sei Whale skimming the surface! Insane. Smelly.
10hrs of thunder and lightning and on the final approach to Spain. Storms all round. All night. Stockhausen , Kontakte on the headphones. Mind-blowing.)
(Is it right to have brackets that long?)
- Say good-bye to sunny England. Sunday!?
- Caribbean by Christmas? Via Spain, Portugal, ?Morocco, Canaries, Cape Verde, Atlantic.
- Central America. Things start to get a little hazy here... Venezuela to Mexico and back to Panama by land and sea? Panama by May?
- Pacific Islands. Yes. Oh yes.
- New Zealand. Around a year from now? Maybe do some nursing? (Cash flow problems anticipated about now)
- Indonesia
- South East Asia
- Asia
- Trans-Siberian railway home!
Timings all quite vague. Guess it'll take a couple years. Maybe more... To be honest the whole thing after the Caribbean is little more than guesswork. After new Zealand basically anything can happen. Probably safest to quote the village people and simple say "Go West!" (Cheers for the compass Bobby!)
So there you have it. Will try to keep you informed as long as I’m aware of what’s going on myself!
Much love and thanks for all the help along the years!
Couldn't have done it without ya! Except you Ed. Nothing but trouble.
