The plan was to go west around the world. Slight problem though, once I get half way round (to 180deg latitude, approx New Zealand) i´ll actually be heading less east as opposed to more west. Arguable semantics but in navigational terms quite important...

Dan, I don't intend to comment on this 'more west vs less east nonsense' (is it more cold or less hot?), but generally love the blog, and am v jealous. Also mildly pissed off that what I once thought was an advneturous trip to Mexico to teach English now looks rather unexciting in comparison...
Anyway, I'll keep following things and do let me know if and when you're getting close to Mexico. We're currently in Oaxaca (pronounced 'Wahaka') city, which is a really beautiful, cool place, so we're hoping to get jobs and stay here for a few months at least, but we've only been here a few days so nothing's certain yet...
